What happened
An aviation accident occurred during the initial climb phase following a departure from Podkamennaya Tunguska. The interval between receiving takeoff clearance and the actual liftoff was recorded at less than four minutes. Shortly after leaving the ground, while maintaining an altitude of approximately 8 to 10 meters, the aircraft entered a super critical angle of attack.
This aerodynamic state led to an immediate stall, causing the plane to bank toward the left side. The aircraft subsequently impacted the ground 525 meters beyond the runway threshold and 77 meters to the left of the extended centerline. The accident resulted in one fatality, involving a company mechanic traveling as a passenger, while two serious injuries were sustained by the flight crew.
Findings
Investigations into the crash determined that the primary factor was an incorrect takeoff configuration maintained by the crew. Specifically, the crew failed to adjust the horizontal stabilizer trim tab to its neutral position before beginning the takeoff roll.
