Accident Overview
An aircraft departing from Podkamennaya Tunguska crashed shortly after takeoff. The interval between receiving clearance and commencing takeoff was less than four minutes. After lifting off, the airplane climbed to an altitude of 8-10 meters above the ground. At that point, it reached a supercritical angle of attack, stalled, banked to the left, and impacted terrain 525 meters beyond the runway end and 77 meters to the left of the extended runway centerline.
Occupants and Injuries
The aircraft carried two pilots and one passenger, who was a company mechanic. The passenger sustained fatal injuries, while both pilots suffered serious injuries.
Probable Cause
According to the official investigation, the accident was caused by a wrong takeoff configuration: the crew failed to set the trim tab of the horizontal stabilizer to the neutral position prior to takeoff.
