What happened
On a scheduled service from Khabarovsk to Tynda, flight 2G/AGU2311, an aircraft departed Blagoveshchensk's Ignatyevo Airport at 11:21 local time. The flight was the second leg of the journey and was carrying 42 passengers, including five children, along with six crew members.
As the flight proceeded toward Tynda, the crew began their descent and received clearance for an NDB approach via the LMM station, targeting runway 06. At the time of the approach, weather conditions at the destination were marginal, characterized by scattered cloud bases at an altitude of only 210 meters.
Following the adjustment of the altimeters, the aircraft continued its approach. During this phase, the radio altimeter alarm triggered, indicating a low altitude. Approximately three seconds after the alarm, the aircraft struck trees in a wooded area situated 14 kilometers southwest of the airport. The impact caused the plane to burst into flames, and the wreckage was completely destroyed. There were 48 fatalities among the passengers and crew.
Findings
- The approach was conducted under marginal weather conditions with low cloud ceilings.
- The radio altimeter alarm sounded shortly before the collision with terrain.
