On August 17, 2022, an An-24B, registration RA-47848, was performing a scheduled commercial passenger flight from Irkutsk to Ust-Kut. The crew consisted of a captain, a second pilot, a flight engineer, and a flight attendant. The second pilot was also scheduled for captain training during this flight.
During the approach to landing at Ust-Kut airport, the aircraft encountered weather conditions that were below the established minimum operating limits for the airfield. The crew attempted to perform a landing maneuver to correct lateral deviations, but the aircraft entered a critical angle of attack and subsequently stalled.
The aircraft collided with the ground with the left wing console. The investigation noted that the crew's control inputs were disproportionate during the attempt to eliminate lateral deviations.
During the descent, the ground proximity warning system activated with a 'DANGER-EARTH' light and a 'PULL UP' voice command. However, the crew failed to follow the prescribed actions outlined in the Flight Crew Operating Manual (FCOM).
