What happened
While operating a flight from Saurimo to Luanda, the crew experienced mechanical difficulties during the journey. In response to these technical issues, air traffic control authorized an emergency diversion to Malanje Airport.
During the arrival phase, the aircraft attempted to land on a runway that lacked illumination. Following the touchdown, the aircraft type veered off the paved surface and came to a stop. Shortly after the excursion, a fire broke out, which ultimately resulted in the total destruction of the airframe.
Findings
- The landing occurred on an unlit runway.
- All 50 occupants successfully evacuated the wreckage without any reported fatalities or injuries.
- The specific nature of the initial technical malfunction has not yet been determined.
