Accident Overview
After landing at Mariscal Sucre Airport, the flight crew encountered technical problems that prevented the aircraft from stopping within the remaining runway distance. The aircraft overran the runway and came to rest a few dozen meters beyond the paved surface. All 38 occupants were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. The aircraft sustained damage beyond repair and was subsequently transferred to the Museum of the Ecuadorian Air Force in Quito.
Probable Cause
According to the official investigation, the accident was the consequence of a failure of the electrical system.
