What happened
During the approach to Campo dos Afonsos Air Force Base, a mid-air collision occurred between a twin-engine Aero Commander Expeditor and a North American T-6 Texan. The impact took place while both aircraft were in the vicinity of the airfield.
Following the collision, the crew operating the North American T-6 Texan managed to maintain control of their aircraft and successfully completed a landing. However, the Aero Commander Expeditor became uncontrollable after the encounter and subsequently crashed. The accident resulted in one fatality among the crew of the expedition aircraft, while one injury was reported.
