Incident Details
While approaching Rio de Janeiro-Galeão Airport on a mail flight from São Francisco operated on behalf of the Correio Aéreo Nacional, the crew encountered technical problems with the undercarriage. The landing gear failed to deploy, prompting the crew to circle over Rio de Janeiro for approximately one hour. Ultimately, they executed a belly landing on the runway.
Outcome
The aircraft slid for about a dozen yards before coming to a stop. All three occupants were unhurt. However, the aircraft sustained damage beyond repair.
