Incident
A twin-engine aircraft, identified as a Queen Air, departed Bangkok-Don Mueang Airport with four passengers and two crew members for an aerial photography mission. The mission involved photographing a Thai Airways Sud Aviation SE-210 Caravelle. At an altitude of 10,000 feet, the Queen Air took a position to the left of the Caravelle. During this positioning, the propellers of the Queen Air's right engine struck the left wing of the Caravelle. The Caravelle's crew successfully managed a safe landing at Bangkok-Don Mueang Airport. However, the Queen Air entered a dive and crashed in Damnoen Saduak, Samut Sakhon province, approximately 50 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. All six occupants of the Queen Air were killed.
Investigation Findings
The official investigation determined the probable cause of the accident: poor judgment on the part of the Queen Air's crew while maintaining a safe separation between both aircraft.
