During a nighttime flight departing from Manzanillo Airport, a twin engine aircraft experienced an uncontrolled descent shortly after departure. Approximately five minutes into the flight, while the aircraft was in its climbing phase, it went down in the ocean just a few hundred meters from the coastline.

The impact caused the wreckage to settle on the seabed at a depth of 80 meters. There were seven fatalities recorded in the accident, including five police officers who were traveling back to Mexico City. The mission was being conducted on behalf of the Attorney General of the Republic.
