What happened
On the afternoon of May 2, 2004, a Twin Commander 84 0 aircraft, operating under the Mexican registration XC-JEH, was involved in a fatal accident near Milpillas in the State of Aguas Calientes, Mexico. The flight, which was a private domestic trip, departed from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, at approximately 14:00 local time. The aircraft was traveling toward Mexico City International Airport under an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight plan.
While the aircraft was in the cruise phase of flight, it encountered adverse weather conditions. During this encounter, the aircraft experienced a loss of control, leading to its destruction. There were seven fatalities in total, as the pilot, the first officer, and all five passengers on board perished in the accident.
Findings
At the time of the incident, the flight was operating in instrument meteorological conditions. The primary factor contributing to the loss of control was the encounter with weather during the cruise portion of the flight.
