What happened
During a flight conducted under marginal weather conditions, a twin engine airplane collided with the terrain at Mt La Linea. The accident occurred within the Pueblo Rico region when the aircraft struck the slope of the mountain. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the airframe.
There were three fatalities recorded as a result of the crash, with no survivors among the occupants. Investigations into the nature of the flight indicated that the crew was engaged in an illegal drug smuggling operation at the time of the accident.
