What happened
The incident involved a seaplane operating an enroute sector between Belém and Manaus. During this leg of the journey, the aircraft crashed in the region of Porto de Moz under circumstances that were not immediately determined. Because the plane failed to reach its scheduled destination, search and rescue operations were initiated. These efforts continued for several days but were eventually suspended after no trace of the missing aircraft could be located.
On December 22, 1947, the situation changed when the wreckage was finally located near the village of Aquiqui, situated northwest of Porto de Moz. At the site, the remains of all 16 occupants were recovered, confirming that there were no survivors in the accident.
