What happened
A pilot was conducting a local training exercise at Ljungbyhed Airport aboard a de Havilland DH.60T Moth. The aircraft involved in this specific operation carried the registration 5106. During the flight, it encountered another DH.60T Moth operated by the same military forces, which was registered as 5112. Both aircraft were en route when they collided in the airspace south of the airfield.
Following the mid-air collision, the pilot of registration 5106 successfully bailed out and survived the incident. In contrast, the crew member aboard registration 5112 was not able to escape. Both aircraft subsequently crashed near the village of Bonnarp, where they were completely destroyed. The accident resulted in one fatality.
