What happened
During an arrival from Willemstad-Hato Airport, the flight crew initiated an approach toward runway 23 at Barranquella-Ernesto Cortissoz Airport. The aircraft crossed the runway threshold and made contact with the surface approximately 770 metres beyond the threshold point.
Immediately following touchdown, the crew experienced vibrations originating from the right side of the airframe. This was accompanied by the collapse of the right main landing gear. Following the structural failure, the aircraft traveled a distance of several dozen metres along the runway before coming to a complete stop.
Despite the impact and subsequent slide, all 31 occupants were able to exit the aircraft without injury. The aircraft sustained damage that was determined to be beyond repair.
Findings
- The landing occurred 770 metres past the runway threshold.
- The primary mechanical issue was the failure of the right main gear during the landing roll.
