What happened
A flight originating from Dubai, destined for Dhaka with a scheduled stop in Chittagong, was involved in a landing accident at Chittagong Airport. The aircraft, carrying a total of 216 people including 201 passengers and 15 crew members, was operating in challenging meteorological conditions characterized by rain and low visibility.
During the final approach to runway 23, the flight was noted to be unstable. Despite this, the captain proceeded with the descent. Upon making contact with the runway, the aircraft drifted to the right of the centerline. This deviation caused the right main landing gear to leave the paved surface and enter soft ground. The impact with the terrain resulted in the landing gear being torn from the airframe and caused partial damage to engine number 3. The aircraft continued to slide for several dozen meters before coming to a halt in a grassy area adjacent to the runway.
