What happened
A flight departing from Resende Airport, which originally carried eight paratroopers and three crew members, ended in a fatal accident. After the skydivers had successfully exited the aircraft at altitude, the remaining crew began a descent to return to the airfield. During the final stages of the approach, the crew decided to abort the landing and instead performed a low pass over the runway.
During this maneuver, the aircraft struck power cables and crashed in the vicinity of a farm located near the airport. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and three fatalities among the occupants.
Findings
Investigations into the crash highlighted significant discrepancies in engine performance at the moment of impact. Reports indicate that while the left engine was operating at full power, the right engine was at idle with its propeller in a feathered position. The reason for this asymmetric engine power remains undetermined.
