What happened
During the initial climb phase after departing from Mandalay-Chianmyathazi (Annisaton) Airport, the flight crew identified a malfunction involving one of the engines. Following this report, air traffic control authorized the aircraft to perform an emergency return to the airfield.
While executing a circuit pattern and transitioning to the final approach, the aircraft type lost sufficient altitude and struck a tobacco factory. The impact resulted in the complete destruction of both the plane and the industrial building. The accident resulted in 43 fatalities among those on board, with one passenger sustaining serious injuries. No individuals on the ground were killed during the collision.
Findings
Investigations into the crash determined that the primary factor was an engine failure occurring shortly after takeoff, the specific underlying reason for which remained undetermined.
