What happened

During an approach to runway 35 at Lengpui Airport, a four-engine airplane experienced significant issues attempting to decelerate after making contact with the runway. The aircraft failed to stop within the available runway length, leading to an excursion. During the overrun, the plane traveled through dense vegetation and descended an embankment, where the structural integrity of the aircraft failed and the fuselage split into two sections.

At the time of the incident, the aircraft was operating a mission to transport 92 members of the Myanmar Army back to Myanmar. These soldiers, part of the 7th Squadron, had recently entered India following recent-armed conflicts involving the Arakan Army.

Findings

All 14 people on board were successfully rescued from the wreckage. While there were no fatalities, the accident resulted in eight injuries among the occupants.
