What happened
During a flight originating from Tehran, the crew began their descent toward Tabriz. Upon approaching the destination, air traffic control notified the flight crew that visibility had been significantly reduced by heavy rainfall.
After touching down on runway 30R, which has a total length of 3,556 metres, the aircraft type was unable to decelerate sufficiently to remain within the runway boundaries. The plane overran the end of the pavement, traveling approximately 500 metres before the movement ceased in a ditch.
While all 110 occupants were successfully rescued from the wreckage, two passengers sustained minor injuries. The impact caused extensive damage to the aircraft, specifically destroying the nose section and causing severe damage to the bulkhead, rendering the airframe a total loss.
