Accident
The aircraft departed from Isfahan Airport and was in night cruise at an altitude of 18,000 feet. Thirty-five minutes after takeoff, it entered an uncontrolled descent that lasted 47 seconds before impacting the slope of a mountain in the Kharkas Mountain Range, near Natanz. The wreckage was found a few hours later in an isolated area close to a telecommunication relay. The aircraft disintegrated on impact, and all 66 persons on board were killed.
Probable Cause
According to the official findings, for unknown reasons, both engines lost power simultaneously. This loss of power caused the aircraft to enter an uncontrolled descent.
