Accident Details
A training flight departed Jakarta-Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 1310 local time for local touch-and-go maneuvers. The crew consisted of one instructor and six pilots under training. After completing a circuit, the pilot-in-command executed a final left turn to align with the glide path for runway 18. During this turn, the aircraft stalled and crashed into several houses located less than one kilometer from the runway threshold. The aircraft was destroyed, along with multiple houses.
Casualties
Six occupants in the aircraft were killed, and the copilot sustained critical injuries. The copilot was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to severe injuries and died a few hours after the crash. On the ground, four people were killed as a result of the impact.
Probable Cause
The official investigation reported that the approach speed was too low during the last turn, causing the aircraft to stall. The distance between the aircraft and the ground was insufficient to expect recovery.
