What happened
While operating a flight toward Macas, the crew of a twin engine aircraft was executing a requested altitude change. The flight crew had received clearance to increase their altitude from 5,500 feet to 7,500 feet. During this climbing phase, the aircraft struck the side of a mountain.
The impact resulted in two fatalities among the occupants. A third person on board sustained injuries during the accident.
Findings
No specific technical failures were identified in the initial report; however, the accident occurred specifically as the aircraft was transitioning through its climb to the assigned altitude.
