What happened
A training mission departing from San Vicente ended in a fatal accident while approaching Quito-Mariscal Sucre Airport. The flight was being conducted by a crew consisting of one instructor and four pilots under supervision. During the approach phase, the aircraft encountered heavy fog, which significantly reduced visibility. While maneuvering in these conditions, the twin engine aircraft descended below the safe altitude and struck a four-story structure. The impact caused the plane to crash approximately 4 km before reaching the runway.
Findings
The accident resulted in a total of seven fatalities, including all five occupants of the aircraft and two individuals located on the ground. Additionally, the collision caused serious injuries to four other people on the ground. The primary factor in the descent into the building was the low altitude during approach in foggy conditions.
