What happened
During the cruise phase of the flight, the aircraft was operating in level flight when the pilot experienced a simultaneous failure of both engines. Despite multiple efforts by the crew to initiate a restart, the engines remained non-operational. Due to the loss of propulsion, the pilot performed an emergency ditching in the ocean.
Following the impact with the water, the aircraft sank and the wreckage was not recovered. The incident resulted in four survivors, consisting of the pilot and three passengers, all of whom were rescued from the sea two days after the event.
Findings
Preliminary assessments regarding the fuel state indicate that the aircraft had sufficient fuel to complete its intended mission, including the required reserves. Based on estimated consumption rates, the dual engine failure occurred despite the presence of adequate fuel on board.
