What happened
Following its departure from Hat Yai Airport, the L6-2/21 (also registered as 29-999) experienced a mechanical issue involving the failure of one engine. Upon realizing the engine was non-functional, the crew issued an emergency declaration and received clearance to perform an emergency return to the airfield.
During the attempt to return to the airport, the aircraft type lost sufficient airspeed to maintain flight. The plane subsequently crash landed in a nearby field. Following the impact, the wreckage ignited, resulting in a significant post-crash fire that destroyed the airframe. Despite the intensity of the flames, all eight people on board were able to evacuate the wreckage. There were no fatalities, though the occupants sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Findings
Investigations into the accident determined that the primary factor was an engine failure occurring during the initial climb phase of the flight.
