What happened
During a period of heavy monsoon weather, an aircraft experienced a runway excursion immediately following touchdown. The runway surface was notably wet at the time of the incident. As the plane landed, it began to skid and subsequently veered off the side of the active runway.
As the aircraft left the paved surface, the landing gear was lost in succession, followed by the separation of the right wing. The sequence of events concluded when the plane came to a stop inside a drainage ditch. Despite the severity of the structural damage, all 43 occupants were successfully evacuated from the vessel without injury.
The aircraft involved was a recently delivered model, having been in service for only four months prior to the accident. Due to the extent of the damage sustained during the excursion, the airframe was declared a total loss.
Findings
- The primary contributing factor was the wet runway conditions caused by monsoon weather, which led to the initial skid and loss of directional control.
