What happened
The incident occurred during the initial climb phase of a flight from Reykjavik to Akureyri. Shortly after leaving the ground, the aircraft experienced an engine failure. In response to this mechanical issue, the pilot initiated a return to the departure airport. However, the airplane subsequently entered a stall condition and impacted the terrain short of the runway.
The crash resulted in significant loss of life and injury. Two passengers were killed, while two other individuals on board sustained injuries.

Official investigations identified the primary cause of the accident as an engine failure that occurred immediately after takeoff.
