What happened
During an approach to Nha Trang Airport, the aircraft encountered severe weather characterized by heavy rainfall and restricted visibility. As the crew was descending, the flight drifted six kilometers away from the W13 airway. During this deviation, the aircraft collided with trees, causing a loss of altitude that led to a crash on a mountain slope. The accident site was located approximately 33 km southwest of Nha Trang. Search teams located the wreckage at an altitude of 970 meters roughly eight days after the event.
Of the occupants on board, 30 fatalities were recorded, along with one serious injury sustained by a passenger.
Findings
At the time of the accident, the region was being impacted by the approach of typhoon 'Forest', which created the hazardous weather conditions and poor visibility encountered during the descent.
