Alaska Air Group unveils Aurora and Leihōkū suites and Premium Reserve cabin

Alaska Air Group has announced its largest investment to date in the premium travel experience, launching two flagship brands for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines alongside a new premium economy class for long-haul flights.

The programme covers ground service at major hubs and a full redesign of cabin interiors across widebody and narrowbody fleets. It introduces Aurora suites for Alaska Airlines, Leihōkū suites for Hawaiian Airlines and a new intermediate cabin called Premium Reserve, forming a four-cabin layout that will debut from 2028.

Aurora is positioned as a reworked international business class and will appear for the first time on selected transcontinental narrowbody flights. All Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliners will receive 34 fully reclining Aurora suites with privacy doors and direct aisle access. The share of premium seats on the 787-9 will rise from 38% to about 46%.

From 2028, at least 25 Boeing 737-10 MAX aircraft will be fitted with 12 Aurora suites in first class for transcontinental routes. Those aircraft will also carry a special Aurora livery inspired by the northern lights.

Each Aurora suite has a lie-flat bed with direct aisle access, storage, a 19-inch 4K entertainment screen, Bluetooth connectivity, USB-C ports, wireless charging and power outlets.
