Danish DAT seeks used Airbus and ATR aircraft for fleet renewal

DAT plans to buy used Airbus and ATR aircraft to modernise its fleet rather than expand, its chief executive said. The Danish carrier intends to replace older ATR turboprops and two A320s in the coming years.

DAT is hunting for used Airbus A320s and ATR aircraft as it renews its fleet, chief executive Jesper Rungholm told Aviation Week.

Several younger ATRs are to be bought next year, Rungholm said. Older ones would be retired within three to five years.

Two A320s will be replaced over the coming two years. An A321 is also an option, Rungholm said, if a well-priced example becomes available.

The fleet is nine ATR 42s, ten ATR 72s, five A320s and one A321. DAT does not intend to grow, Rungholm stressed, only to renew.
