EasyJet aims to recruit more cabin crew aged over 50

EasyJet says the number of cabin crew members over 50 has jumped 127% since 2022. According to the airline, roughly one in eight of its flight attendants now falls into that age bracket, and the number of crew over 60 has nearly quadrupled over the same period.

The carrier plans to keep recruiting from this group. An application window is due to open in September for several hundred cabin crew positions at British bases, with new hires expected to start work in 2027.

This builds on a returnship scheme the airline ran in 2024. That programme offered taster days and online events for people over 50 considering a career change into aviation. EasyJet has not disclosed further detail on pay, training or specific base locations for the upcoming roles.

The airline describes the effort as part of a broader push to diversify the age profile of its cabin crew workforce. It has not given a target figure for how many older recruits it hopes to bring on through the new hiring round.
