Ethiopian Airlines granted broad cargo traffic rights in Argentina

Argentina has granted Ethiopian Airlines extensive cargo traffic rights, including third through ninth freedoms, under a January 2025 air services agreement. The airline plans a weekly freighter service from Addis Ababa via Lagos and São Paulo to Buenos Aires starting in late 2026.

Argentina granted Ethiopian Airlines broad cargo traffic rights in a decision published on 8 October. The approval covers the third through ninth freedoms of the air, which lets the carrier move cargo between third countries and run domestic cargo flights inside Argentina without an international connection.

It implements an air services agreement Argentina and Ethiopia signed in January 2025. That agreement allows unlimited flight frequencies and extensive traffic rights.

Ethiopian Airlines plans a weekly all-cargo service on the route Addis Ababa – Lagos – São Paulo – Buenos Aires from 31 October 2026. Passenger aircraft already fly the connection seven times a week.
