FAA provisionally approves JetBlue's purchase of Spirit slots at LaGuardia

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has provisionally approved JetBlue's purchase of 22 takeoff and landing slots at New York's LaGuardia Airport. The carrier acquired the slots from Spirit Airlines, which ceased passenger operations in May, for $58 million. The transaction would increase JetBlue's share of allocated slots at LaGuardia to 4.6 percent. The approval is subject to conditions: JetBlue may not lease or trade the 22 slots until after April 2028 and is permanently barred from selling them. A final decision by the FAA is expected after September 21.
