Fly Safair adds two Boeing 737-800s, fleet reaches 40 aircraft
South African low-cost carrier Fly Safair has taken delivery of two Boeing 737-800s previously operated by Hainan Airlines, bringing its fleet to 40 Boeing 737s.
Fly Safair is expanding its fleet with two additional Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The planes are nine years old and were previously operated by Hainan Airlines, having been stored in Haikou in spring 2026. Fly Safair plans to configure each aircraft with 189 seats, according to News Aero. With these additions, the South African low-cost carrier's fleet grows to 40 Boeing 737s. Alongside the 737-800s, Fly Safair also operates four older 737-400s. The airline conducts more than 1,200 domestic and regional flights per week.
