Lufthansa A319 with corrected city name returns to service with City Airlines

An Airbus A319 registered D-AIBP has returned to scheduled service with Lufthansa City Airlines after a period of storage, according to Lufthansa. The aircraft bears the name "Pfaffenhofen a. d. Ilm" after a spelling mistake was corrected earlier this year.

The jet first received the name in March during a routine heavy maintenance check, but a stencil error produced a lowercase 'i' in 'Ilm'. Lufthansa fixed the mistake. Shortly afterwards the aircraft, then operated by Lufthansa Cityline, was parked following that carrier's shutdown in April. Its future was undecided at that time.

Now the more than 20-year-old A319 is flying again for another subsidiary, Lufthansa City Airlines. This is the first time in years that Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm has an active namesake aircraft.
