Norse Atlantic plans up to four 787s on ACMI work in 2027

Norse Atlantic Airways expects to place as many as four Boeing 787s with other carriers on ACMI terms in 2027, its chief executive said, as the airline shifts to separate summer and winter networks.

Norse Atlantic Airways intends to place up to four of its Boeing 787s on ACMI work in 2027, chief executive Eivind Roald said at the World Aviation Festival in Lisbon on 15 October. Two of the aircraft are already committed to Pakistan International Airlines, and Roald said the carrier is working to sign a couple more with other airlines.

Six of Norse's Dreamliners had been on lease to IndiGo Airlines, with the remaining aircraft flying mainly on its own scheduled services. Those leases end in November after IndiGo reconsidered its early long-haul routes to Europe, citing higher fuel costs along with airspace disruptions and geopolitical challenges.

The airline also performs charter work, which Roald said keeps most of the fleet deployed. Some surplus capacity will cover a C-check scheduled for January. Norse holds a winter charter contract with P&O Cruises and, according to Roald, other cruise lines have approached the carrier.

Norse has restructured its scheduled flying around distinct seasonal networks. In summer the airline concentrates on carrying US passengers to Europe, keeping most of its capacity on Europe-US routes. Winter flying moves elsewhere, and the carrier has been cutting back transatlantic services this season as part of that shift.
