Oman Air to rebuild cargo business through partnerships, block-space deals

Oman Air intends to rebuild its cargo operation without immediately acquiring freighter aircraft. The airline is seeking partners in India, Africa, Asia and Europe to secure capacity through block-space agreements. It sold its sole freighter, a Boeing 737, in 2025 during restructuring, according to Airline Economics. The airline is also expanding its cargo network. A trucking feeder service launched in May between Dubai and Muscat has carried more than 1.5 million kilograms of freight across over 120 round trips. That service is set to be extended to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Freight volumes increased even as rates fell between 15 and 20 percent from 2024 to 2025.
