Stuttgart airport halts flights for about an hour over official measure

Stuttgart Airport suspended operations for roughly an hour on 5 October after what it called an official measure, clearing the security area and gates before giving the all-clear.

Stuttgart Airport halted flight operations at around 17:00 local time on Monday 5 October, according to an airport notice published at 17:30.

The airport said an official measure prompted the stop, and that the security area and gates had to be evacuated. Passengers waiting at a gate to board, or already on board their aircraft, had to return to the public area of the terminal.

At 18:09 the airport gave the all-clear, saying the official measure had ended. Flight operations resumed in stages and passenger security checks reopened.

The airport did not say what the measure involved, how many flights or travellers were affected, or which authorities ordered it.
