Accident Details
Prior to departure, the pilot checked weather conditions and observed a storm approaching the area, prompting a need to depart promptly. During the takeoff roll, while the airplane was still in ground effect, it encountered a gust of wind that forced the left wing downward. The pilot managed to regain control and initiated a climb to clear trees near the end of the runway.
As the airplane continued its climb, it encountered another wind gust. The pilot attempted to compensate for the gust, but the airplane subsequently impacted trees and terrain. The accident resulted in substantial damage to the fuselage and both wings.
Pilot's Report
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
