A SportStar SL experienced a bounced landing that resulted in nose gear and propeller contact with the runway.

What happened

On July 5, 2015, an Evektor-Aerotechnik AS SportStar SL, registration N163PH, was involved in a landing accident in Montgomery, New York. During the landing sequence, the pilot reported that the aircraft landed hard and bounced. After the aircraft made contact with the runway for a third time, it was in a nose-down attitude. This caused the nose landing gear and the propeller to strike the runway, resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft's firewall. There were no injuries reported in the accident. The weather at the time was visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds from 160 degrees at 4 knots.

Probable cause
