Occurrence
On 16 September 2021 at 1500 Eastern Daylight Time, a privately registered Mooney M20J aircraft with one pilot and one passenger on board landed on Runway 30 at Sundridge South River Airport in Ontario. During the landing, the aircraft bounced several times, prompting the pilot to conduct a go-around. Subsequently, the aircraft crashed into the forest approximately 1300 feet from the departure end of the runway.
Investigation
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada conducted a class 4 investigation into the occurrence. Class 4 investigations are limited in scope and do not include findings or recommendations. They are typically completed within 220 days. The investigation focused on the circumstances of the crash but did not issue a probable cause.
Damage and Injuries
The aircraft was destroyed in the crash. Both occupants—the pilot and the passenger—were fatally injured.
