Uncontrolled Descent and Crash Near Olyokminsk (CCCP-47733)

Departure and Descent The aircraft departed Olyokminsk Airport at 1810 local time, bound for Lensk. Eighteen minutes after takeoff, while cruising at an altitude of 4,500 meters, the airplane entered an uncontrolled descent. The aircraft crashed in a near-vertical attitude of 80 degrees in a dense wooded area located 92 kilometers west of Olyokminsk. The airplane partially disintegrated in the air, and debris was scattered over a large area. No fire was present on board prior to final impact. All 45 occupants were killed in the accident. ## Investigation Findings The official investigation was unable to determine the exact cause of the accident. Investigators found no technical failure of the engine or equipment prior to the accident, no fire on board, and no in-flight collision with any object.
