What happened
During a final approach to Mount Gambier Airfield, a twin-engine airplane struck another aircraft in mid-air. The second involved aircraft was an Avro 652 Anson I with the registration N4936. Despite the impact, the crew of the first aircraft maintained control and successfully completed the landing at the airfield.
All three members of the flight crew emerged from the incident without injury. However, the structural damage sustained by the twin-engine airplane was severe enough to render it beyond repair, leading to its eventual scrapping. The status and fate of the second aircraft, the Avro Anson, have not been determined. Additionally, the specific details surrounding how the collision occurred remain unestablished.
