On April 30, 2003, a Basler BT-67 (registration PNC-212) operated by Policía Nacional de Colombia was involved in an aviation accident near Ocaña, Colombia during landing or approach. No fatalities were reported. Investigators recorded the probable cause as: The aircraft failed to stop within the available runway length, leading to an overrun into a ditch. This summary draws on records from the Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Archives (B3A); 4 related events involving the same aircraft type or operator are linked below.
An aircraft failed to stop after landing at the Ocaña-Aguas Claras Airstrip, resulting in an excursion into a roadside ditch.
What happened
During the landing phase at the Ocaña-Aguas Claras Airstrip, the aircraft failed to decelerate sufficiently before the end of the runway. Due to the inability to halt within the available runway length, the aircraft continued past the paved surface and exited the airstrip. The movement ended when the aircraft came to a stop inside a ditch located adjacent to the landing area.
Findings
There were no fatalities or injuries reported as a result of this incident. The primary factor in the excursion was the inability to stop within the remaining runway distance following touchdown.
Probable cause
The aircraft failed to stop within the available runway length, leading to an overrun into a ditch.
