What happened

During a night training mission, a twin-engine aircraft crashed in a field located a short distance from Ibagué-Perales Airport. The flight originated in Bogotá and was scheduled to include a stop at Ibagué-Perales Airport before continuing to Mariquita.

As the aircraft was performing its approach to the airport, the flight became uncontrollable. The impact resulted in a significant post-crash fire that completely consumed the airframe. There were four fatalities among the crew members on board.

Findings

Following the impact, the aircraft was totally destroyed by the resulting flames. The investigation into the sequence of events indicates the aircraft lost control during the final stages of the approach to the runway.
