Incident Overview
A twin-engine aircraft operated by the Colombian Air Force departed Bogotá on a training flight destined for Mariquita, with an intermediate stop planned at Ibagué-Perales Airport. While conducting a night approach to Ibagué-Perales, the aircraft went out of control and crashed into a field located a few kilometers from the airport. Upon impact, the aircraft burst into flames.
Aircraft and Crew
The aircraft was totally destroyed by a post-crash fire. All four crew members on board were killed. The deceased were identified as Maj Andrés Valbuena Cadena, Lt Carlos Andrés León Caicedo, Lt Juan Alcides Sosa Triana, and Sub John Wílfer Parra Solano.
Investigation
The Colombian Air Force has initiated an investigation into the accident. No probable cause has been stated in the initial report.
