What happened
During a nighttime arrival at Paris-Roissy-CDG Airport, an aircraft traveling from Douala encountered difficult weather conditions and a wet runway. Upon landing on runway 09R, the crew initiated braking maneuvers; however, the aircraft subsequently lost directional control. The plane drifted to the right side of the runway and exited the paved surface, traversing a grassy area. During the excursion, the nose landing gear separated from the aircraft, and the nose gear assembly punctured the fuselage, causing extensive damage to the electronic bay. The aircraft eventually came to a stop in the area between taxiways Z6 and Z7.
Findings
- All 203 occupants successfully evacuated the aircraft without injury.
- The aircraft, identified as 'Mount Cameroon', sustained substantial damage and was determined to be a total loss.
- The primary factor in the loss of control was the wet runway conditions during the landing and braking phase.
