What happened
Following a delay at Langgur caused by mechanical issues with the right engine, a decision was made to transport the aircraft to Ambon for necessary maintenance. During the final approach phase toward Ambon-Pattimura Airport, the flight encountered conditions characterized by mist and light rain. While maneuvering for landing, the aircraft experienced a stall, leading to a crash approximately 270 meters before reaching the runway.
Findings
- The aircraft was operating a ferry flight due to a pre-existing technical fault in the right engine.
- Adverse weather conditions, specifically mist and light rain, were present during the approach.
- The impact resulted in the destruction of the aircraft and three fatalities among the crew.
- The primary factor in the accident was an aerodynamic stall during the landing sequence.
