What happened
While performing a takeoff roll from runway 13, a twin engine aircraft lost directional control. The aircraft veered off the active runway and impacted a nearby banana plantation.
The accident resulted in one fatality among the occupants. Additionally, several other passengers or crew members sustained injuries, with some of these being classified as serious. The aircraft was destroyed in the crash and subsequently declared a total loss.
Findings
Investigations into the incident determined that the aircraft experienced aquaplaning during the takeoff phase. This phenomenon led to the subsequent loss of control on the runway surface.
