Accident Summary
A training flight at Surabaya-Juanda Airport ended in a fatal crash when the aircraft stalled and crashed into a pond located 3 kilometers short of the runway. The crew was conducting a series of touch-and-go maneuvers. While approaching for the eighth landing, at an altitude of 500 feet, the aircraft rolled to the left, stalled, and subsequently impacted the pond. Upon impact, the aircraft burst into flames.
Crew Information
The aircraft carried three pilots. All three were killed in the accident. Both captains were previously operating on Casa-Nurtanio CN-235 (IPTN) aircraft and were undergoing a transition to the Fokker F27 at the time of the accident.
The aircraft itself was destroyed in the crash and ensuing fire.
