What happened
A scheduled flight departing from Bandung-Husein Sastranegara Airport for Jakarta experienced a significant mechanical issue shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, carrying 45 passengers and 5 crew members, suffered a loss of power in the left engine. Upon notifying Air Traffic Control of the malfunction, the pilot decided to divert the flight to Bandung-Sulaiman AFB to perform an emergency landing.
During the final approach to runway 13, the flight crew struggled to keep the aircraft at a safe altitude. The aircraft subsequently struck several rooftops before crashing. The accident resulted in 28 fatalities, which included the entire 5-person crew. Among the survivors, 20 occupants were successfully rescued. The passengers and crew were primarily Indonesian nationals, with the exception of one passenger from Singapore.
